INTRODUCTION
The more the child of God knows about his Saviour the more
he will love Him, and desire to please Him with his life.
It will also help him to have more comfort, peace and assurance
in the Lord. In this little booklet a few of the attributes of
the Lord are given with a few Scripture references for each attribute.
There are other attributes of God with many additional Scripture references.
It would be a profitable endeavor for each one to study the attributes of God,
find even more Scriptures describing those attributes in order to learn more
about Him. Our ultimate goal should be for the Lord to be honored and glorified
through our lives.
Hopefully, these few attributes and Scriptures will be a great encouragement to
the saved person to draw nigh unto God and serve Him faithfully because of his
love for Him. An often forgotten, but very important truth is that God receives
glory in and through one of His true New Testament churches. “Unto Him be glory in
the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen”
(Ephesians 3:21).
God’s attributes are perfect. They can not be improved upon, increased or become greater.
They certainly can never be decreased. In God these attributes are fully, completely,
perfectly, permanently and infinitely existent.
Since God is not changeable, His attributes do not change. God is who God is. He is not
who a person may desire or think Him to be or not to be. He is who He is, and He will never
change.
These attributes are attributes of the Triune Godhead. Thus, these are attributes of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Jesus is the One, true and living God [John 1:1-3; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8;
I John 5:7 and many other Scriptures]. He is God the Son. He is as much God as is the Father
and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is fully God and at the same time fully man, the unique God-man.
May you enjoy and be blessed by these passages of Scripture.

THE SUFFERING OF GOD
(Psalm 22:1-19 The Suffering of God the Son, Jesus Christ)
1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so
far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in
the night season, and am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver
them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee,
and were not confounded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and
despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip,
they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver Him: let Him
deliver Him, seeing He delighted in Him.
9 But thou art He that took me out of the womb: thou didst make
me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from
my mother's belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to
help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have
beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a
roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint:
my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue
cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust
of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked
have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my
vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste
thee to help me.
(Isaiah 52:14; 53:1-12 The Suffering of God the Son, Jesus Christ)
14 As many were astonied at thee; His visage was so marred more
than any man, and His form more than the sons of men:
1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD
revealed?
2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out
of a dry ground: He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we
shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He
was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
4 Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did
esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with
His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his
own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His
mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep
before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare
His generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living: for
the transgression of my people was He stricken.
9 And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His
death; because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in
His mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief:
when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His
seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD
shall prosper in His hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: by His
knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for He shall
bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall
divide the spoil with the strong; because He hath poured out His
soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and
He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors.
-“Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen
again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you,
is Christ” (Acts 17:3).
THE SUPREME RULE OF GOD
-“He ruleth by His power for ever; His eyes behold the nations:
let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah” (Psalm 66:7).
-“The LORD hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His
kingdom ruleth over all” (Psalm 103:19).
-“This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand
by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may
know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and
giveth it to whomsoever He will, and setteth up over it the
basest of men” (Daniel 4:17).
-“That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be
with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat
grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of
heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know
that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it
to whomsoever He will” (Daniel 4:25).
-“And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be
with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass
as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou
know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and
giveth it to whomsoever He will” (Daniel 4:32).
-“And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine
eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me,
and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured Him
that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting
dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation:
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing:
and He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and
among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay His
hand, or say unto Him, What doest thou?” (Daniel 4:34, 35).
-“And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was
made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild
asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was
wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high
God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that He appointeth
over it whomsoever He will” (Daniel 5:21).
THE THREE-FOLD ‘OMNI’ ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
(Omniscience; omnipotence; omnipresence)
(Psalm 139:1-16, 23, 24)
1 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou
understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art
acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou
knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand
upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot
attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from
thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in
hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost
parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall
hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night
shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth
as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in
my mother's womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right
well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in
secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in
thy book all my members were written, which in continuance
were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my
thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the
way everlasting.
-“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD
appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty
God; walk before me, and be thou perfect” (Genesis 17:1).

praise Him in the heights. Praise ye Him, all His angels:
praise ye Him, all His hosts. Praise ye Him, sun and moon:

heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let

and they were created” (Psalm 148:1-5).
